Comments: Rare away shirt with a peculiar, grey marl design. The sponsorship of the club was a very late change from Die Continentale to S. Oliver, which resulted in this shirt being sold to fans with both sponsors before the season had started.

The Dortmund squad included Matthias Sammer, Lars Ricken, Andreas Möller and Stephane Chapuisat.

Although they were unable to defend their Champions League title, they did win the Intercontinental Cup.
